Even though the NBA, along with other sports, is currently on hold, LeBron James is not slowing down. The Los Angeles Lakers’ standout player is pushing himself to stand out even more once the season resumes. James has been putting in extra work this week to make sure he is in top-notch shape when it’s time to hit the court again. Just like many other elite athletes, James is following a rigorous training routine at home to stay at the top of his game.
During the lockdown, LeBron James of the LA Lakers has been dedicated to his training, pushing himself to new limits.
Sporting a pained expression, the 35-year-old Lakers player pushed through a challenging set of workouts.
After that, James shifted his focus to the weights, aiming to strengthen not only his upper body but also his core muscles.
However, when he took to social media, the legendary basketball player was eager to demonstrate the essence of hard work to his 63 million Instagram followers. Sharing various video clips on Instagram, James could be seen shirtless as he utilized resistance cables in his garden, his body covered in sweat. The 35-year-old then transitioned to working with weights, focusing on strengthening both his core and upper body muscles simultaneously.
In the caption of the video, James encouraged his followers by saying, ‘Let’s put in the work! Who’s joining me for this journey to greatness? #StriveForGreatness.’ Later that evening, James touched the emotions of many as he shared that he was at home reminiscing by watching old footage of himself playing alongside the legendary Lakers star, Kobe Bryant.
Later that evening, James settled in to watch some footage from the 2008 Olympic Games. As he lounged back, he watched the video of himself and Bryant competing for the United States in the gold medal game against Spain in Beijing. In the footage, James could be seen embracing Bryant after a crucial basket. Bryant, along with his daughter Gianna and seven others, tragically passed away in a helicopter crash on January 26 in Calabasas, California.
With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic causing disruptions worldwide, the NBA recently announced an agreement with the National Basketball Players Association to withhold 25% of each player’s salary starting May 15 due to the shutdown of the league. This measure would help ease the financial impact in case the rest of the regular season is cancelled due to an unforeseen event such as the pandemic.
Fans were left emotional as James shared a heartfelt moment of celebration with the late Kobe Bryant.
According to ESPN, the money will be temporarily held in escrow and refunded to players if all of the remaining regular season games are completed. If only a portion of the season can be played, players will receive a pro-rata amount based on the number of games completed.
ESPN also reported that salary cuts will extend into the first two months of the 2020-21 NBA season.
Since March 11, the NBA has not held any games, leaving uncertainty about when the league will resume action.
